Big-hearted members of the Bahrain Netball League (BNL) have been collecting an array of items to donate to the Migrant Workers Protection Society, in a bid to support the needy as well as spread merry cheer, reports Mai Al-Khatib Camille.
The teams have been filling shoeboxes with soap, toothpaste, deodorant, coffee, dhal, rice, tea, hats, socks and more for men to be distributed by the society throughout December.
The initiative is part of BNL’s Winter Shoebox Appeal. The team members have also added boxes for women in need.
“It is about giving to those less fortunate than ourselves over the festive period,” said BNL president, Khulood Sabah.
“This year is the first time we are specifically making boxes for women including sanitary products. As the netball community is made up of many women, we want to show our support for this cause.”
People who would like to support the donation drive can visit the mixed netball team Tinsel Tournament on December 13, 6pm, at the Dilmun Club.
“People who would like to donate and cheer us on can do so on that day, and hand over the contribution to one of the BNL committee members,” added Khulood.
