Gulf Weekly Noor says ‘oui’ to louis vuitton

BAHRAINI designer Noor Mohsen has bagged the opportunity of a lifetime and has sent her family and friends all her love from Paris, writes Mai Al-Khatib Camille.

The talented 30-year-old started 2023 with a sparkle in her eye and a spring in her step as she joined the ranks of Louis Vuitton’s (LV) creative team.

“I am trying to give my best as well as learn from the professional designers during my time with them,” said Noor, who signed on for a six-month contract in December. “My aim is to inspire and mentor all young designers to dream big and achieve their goals.”

Noor is working with the French fashion house’s bag design team.

The brand, synonymous with luxury, exclusivity and quality, was established in Paris in 1854 by skilled artisan Louis Vuitton. He started his career making trunks for Napoleon III’s wife Empress Eugénie de Montijo and his products including leather goods, handbags, trunks, shoes, watches, jewellery and accessories are still in demand.

Noor is thrilled to be a part of the team and says all her late nights during her studies has paid off.

“I used to work in a financial institution but shifted to fashion because I am more passionate about it and that’s where I truly saw myself,” said Noor who completed her Masters in jewellery and accessory design at Politecnico di Milano in Italy.

“Being a part of the LV team gives me the chance to share my culture and showcase my passion for design, which I inherited from my family.”

According to Noor, her Al Sayegh family started as goldsmiths and the business of designing jewels and swords for royals flourished for more than 350 years. She also caught the fashion design bug from her mum Amina, aunt Masooma and grandma Badriyah who sewed their own dresses in the past.

Noor won an award from the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) in 2020 and thanks Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, His Majesty King Hamad’s wife and SCW president, for supporting and encouraging Bahraini women.

“I hope to have my own brand some day,” said Noor, who is inspired by nature and organic shapes. But for now, she will revel in her creations with LV.
