Happy sweet 16

THERE were plenty of smiles at LuLu Hypermarkets across the kingdom as the retail giant’s 16th anniversary continues with a series of promotions which can still be snapped up today … with even more to come, writes Deviprasad Nair.

The grand celebrations kicked off last week at all their outlets giving LuLu Group a chance to thank their shoppers for their continuous support over the years.

“We at LuLu understand the importance of our customers,” a LuLu spokesman said. “We love Bahrain and its community, so we decided who better to inaugurate our 16th anniversary than our customers who are an integral part of us.”

LuLu initially started its venture into Bahrain with its flagship store at Dana Mall in Sanabis. As demand grew, expansion followed and now the popular retailer boasts eight hypermarkets across the kingdom, along with a LuLu Express store in the urban residential space of Danat Al Lawzi.

For the anniversary celebrations, LuLu invited some of its most loyal customers to take part in ribbon and cake-cutting ceremonies and they were also presented with hampers full of treats as a ‘thank you’.

One delighted Bahraini shopper interviewed by GulfWeekly at Atrium Mall shared that his favourite thing about LuLu ‘was the family atmosphere’ he noticed from the moment he entered the store.

Another expat couple also highlighted the competitive prices and the huge availability of product choice, adding that there was ‘nothing they couldn’t find’ in store. They also sang praises for the service staff for always being on hand to help customers.

Meanwhile, sister newspaper the GDN also joined in the celebratory fun at Dana Mall at the same time, where Bahraini businessman Hassan Mirza was also thrilled to be a part of it.

“I appreciate being invited to celebrate LuLu’s anniversary with them,” said the 74-year-old from Manama, who was at the forefront of the ribbon and cake-cutting ceremonies enjoying his slice of good fortune.

“From the day they opened, I’ve have been purchasing different goods from them and I’m very pleased because their service, products and prices are very good. As a customer, this is what we require in Bahrain and I have been a loyal customer for 16 years.”

LuLu will continue to run a series of special offers as well … with new deals being announced during the rest of this month including groceries, cleaning products, and everything from pet foods to electronic devices.

LuLu is also running a ‘Half Pay Back’ promotion until October 4 on garments, sarees, baby accessories, footwear, ladies’ bags, jewellery, toys, and bicycles.
