If there is one thing Canadian musician Drake can not be accused of, it’s laziness, as the hip hop artist started his fall with his second album in less than a year, the end of a years-long spat with the Grammy Awards and his son’s first-ever single.
Drake’s eighth studio album For All the Dogs was released earlier this month and features guest appearances from Teezo Touchdown, 21 Savage, J. Cole, Yeat, SZA, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Lil Yachty.
Although it received a lukewarm response from critics, the new album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.
All 23 tracks of the album debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, with seven of them appearing in the top-ten and Drake also became the first artist to tally at least 300 entries in the vaunted list.
This album follows both albums that were released in 2022: his seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, and his collaborative studio album with 21 Savage titled Her Loss, the latter of which he recently submitted to the Grammy Awards.
Despite winning five Grammy Awards, in recent years, Drake has skipped the award show and chosen not to submit his last two albums for consideration, as he criticised the Recording Academy’s nomination process and accused the organisation of racism.
However, without public comment, Her Loss was recently submitted for consideration for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.
And to top off his combustive start to the last quarter of the year, Drake’s six-year-old son Adonis made his official music debut with My Man Freestyle – released in celebration of his birthday.
The adorable music video features Adonis and his friends playing basketball and even has a guest appearance from his celebrity father.
