American rapper Nicki Minaj has officially returned to her rap throne as she released her much-awaited Pink Friday 2 album on Friday.
It is framed as a sequel to her 2010 debut, the first Pink Friday, which gave the iconic rapper her rise to fame.
Pink Friday debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, also selling an impressive 375,000 copies in its first week, which at the time marked the second highest sales debut for a female rapper since Lauren Hill.
According to World Music Views, Nicki’s Pink Friday 2 album has sold more than 500,000 units in the US since its release.
Marked as her fifth studio album, Nicki has described it as ‘a return to form’.
“When I look back at a lot of my music, I’m like, oh my God, where was the me in it,” Nicki said during an interview with Vogue.
For this album, she added that she wanted to return to her old game plan, as well as feature multiple artists.
The highly-anticipated 22-song album features music icons like Lil Wayne, Drake, Future, J.Cole and Lourdiz.
