Step into the Winter Chalet Corner at Go Bistro by La Table Krug, a delightful addition to The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, promising an extraordinary dining experience amidst the enchanting holiday atmosphere. Nestled by the beachside, this charming corner invites you to revel in the fusion of French sophistication and the cosy embrace of a winter retreat, writes Jayne Houghton.

On arrival, we were welcomed by the team at Go Bistro by La Table Krug with the familial embrace that one can expect from The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain; warm and inviting. The ambience of the Winter Chalet, adorned with warm lighting, a crackling fireplace, and rustic wood accents, perfectly complemented the culinary excellence that unfolded over the course of the evening.

Our journey commenced with the comforting soupe à l’oignon, accompanied by crusty baguette bread and gratinated cheese, setting the tone for this gastronomic endeavour. The herbed escargots and salad suisse, a delectable mix of assorted leaves, croutons, grilled chicken, Emmental cheese, and a softly poached egg, offered a balanced and flavourful start.

The array of specialities amazed us. The fondue bourguignonne, an exquisite platter for two, featured tenderloin cubes ready to be cooked to perfection, served with a selection of five savoury sauces and crispy French fries. The fondue ‘four cheeses’, a harmonious blend of Beaufort, Abondance, Gruyère, and Emmental cheeses, paired exquisitely with freshly baked French baguette and tangy pickles had us captivated from our first bite. The immersive aspect of the fondue added a fun ulterior touch to our date night. The wiener schnitzel, a veal escalope with the delicious addition of cucumber and potato salad, showcased tradition with finesse.

For the grand finale, we savoured the apple strudel, a melodic mix of apple, cinnamon, raisins, and creamy vanilla ice cream, offering a comforting and indulgent conclusion to our meal. The profiteroles à la vanille, delicate puffs filled with velvety vanilla, added a final touch of sweetness to our flavourful escapade.

Executive chef Joergen Sodemann and chef de cuisine Alexis Knecht’s culinary prowess shone through each dish, transforming the evening into a memorable experience.
