Offering a diverse lineup of events, from art exhibitions to musical concerts and cultural pop-ups, the 18th edition of Spring of Culture is back to entertain. GulfWeekly picks its favourites happening across the island this week. Whether it’s thought provoking creative expression or street theatre and family fun, this year’s calendar has something in store for everyone.

Mohammed Bin Faris Band

Experience timeless Bahraini folk music from the notable Sawt genre, a style that’s said to have catalysed the local music scene. Characterised by powerful vocals and showmanship, it showcases the kingdom’s rich heritage. The sessions run every Thursday, 8pm onwards at Mohammed Bin Faris Music Hall in Muharraq.

Four Stories Exhibition

Bahraini artists Dwa Al Khalifa, Hala Al Khalifa, Lulwa Al Khalifa, and Marwa Al Khalifa showcase their multifaceted stories rooted in personal experiences in a group display. The exhibition, in collaboration with Albareh Art Gallery, located in Adliya, runs until January 31 and is open for viewing from Saturday to Thursday, 9am to 1.30pm and 4pm to 8pm.

Polish Pop-Up: Kukuryku Ola Muchin

Immerse yourself in the tale of Osvaldo the magician and Muja the witch who are on a quest for the elusive Golden Egg of Kukuryku. The magician enthrals with illusion-based tricks and a chicken puppet as his assistant – a free show that will appeal to all audiences.

Lecture: The Palestinian Cause & Its Evolutions

Former Palestinian minister and cultural and media adviser to President Mahmoud Abbas, Nabil Amr, will share his insights. Nabil was also the Palestinian ambassador to Egypt and has authored books, including Days of Love and Siege detailing the 1982 Beirut capture. Runs on January 22, 8pm onwards at Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research.

Reality & Its Shadow Exhibition

Seven artists, Ahmed Ashoor, Omnia Elamir, Sarah Aradi, Jaafar Al Haddad, Aziz Mutawa, Mariam Al Sadadi, and Rawan Alhosan, collaborate as part of Al Riwaq’s residency programme, interacting on topics of socio-cultural urgency. The exhibition opens on January 23 and runs until February 29. It is open for viewing daily, except Friday, from 10am to 8pm.
