Colombian-American singer-songwriter Kali Uchis is embracing her Latin roots as she released her second Spanish-language album on Friday.
The 14-track album titled Orquideas is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, strikingly graceful and sensual allure of the orchid, a popular flower in Colombia.
It was released through Geffen Records, and it features guest appearances by some of the most popular names in Latin music such as Peso Pluma, El Alfa, JT, Karol G, and Rauw Alejandro.
“The orchid is the national flower of Colombia and we have more species of orchid than anywhere on Earth,” the singer said in a statement, adding that she felt intrigued and magnetised by the bloom, which is why she created the album.
Kali released Red Moon in Venus in March last year through Geffen Records. It skyrocketed the Latin singer’s career and became her first Top 10 charting album.
The star has a long list of accolades including being featured on Kaytranada’s 2019 single 10%, which won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording at the 63rd Grammy Awards show. Her other accolades include an American Music Award, two Billboard Music Awards and a nomination for a Latin Grammy Award.
