Gulf Weekly Chance to level up your video skills

Enjoy fun workshops covering a range of activities at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre.

The events have been organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca).

The Professional Video and Editing on Phone workshop will teach participants how to take videos using their smartphones, through studied theoretical material and practical applications.

Topics include essential filming rules, lighting, choosing the right settings for high-quality mobile videos, slow-motion and time lapse-filming, enhancing audio quality, adding music and sound effects and editing.

The workshop will equip participants with the skills needed to complete the video process on their own. It will be held on September 9, 10 and 11, 4pm to 6pm, in Arabic and English.

The Punch Needle Embroidery workshop will highlight the role of blotting needles in works of art. Create stunning embroidery on bags and make artistic cup coasters and medals. Participants will learn about the tools used in the process as well as the techniques and basics of using needles. They will also learn how to print designs on fabrics.

Learn the new craft on September 9, 10 and 11, from 4pm to 6pm, in Arabic and English.

Meanwhile, the Arabic Calligraphy workshop will introduce trainees to the history of the art form and main types of fonts within it. It will also shine a spotlight on the tools used and ways to employ them according to the type of font.

It will be held on September 14, 21 and 28, from 10am to 12.30pm.

Craft lovers can also join the Pottery on the Wheel workshop which will delve into the types of pottery and tools used in shaping them. Trainees will discover the methods of pottery, wedging and kneading as well as how to use the wheel to shape and sculpt pottery.

The workshop, in Arabic and English, will take place on September 14, 21 and 28, from 10am to 12.30pm.
