PSYCHOLOGICAL horror film Heretic is out now in theatres.
The movie follows two young missionaries (Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East) who find themselves in a deadly cat-and-mouse game after they knock on the door of the diabolical Mr Reed (Hugh Grant), who traps them in his house. In order to make it out alive, the two sisters turn to their faith as they realise the dangerous situation.
Hugh, who portrays an evil character, said he felt ‘perverse pleasure from being diabolical’.
“Perhaps it’s kind of vicarious, I would like to be that evil and I think we all would in a way,” he said in an interview.
The A24 productions movie directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods - which aims to spark a thought-provoking discussion about faith and humanity - praises itself for not using generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the process of making - a photo of the end credits stating that has gone viral on social media.
‘No generative AI was used in the making of this film,’ the visual read, referring to the technology that builds images, video, text and other elements when given prompts, which has previously been used in blockbusters, including Alien: Romulus, released earlier this year.
