THE first four episodes of South Korean mystery television series Light Shop are set to premiere on Disney+ on December 4.
The show follows a group of strangers who are separately processing horrible experiences from their past.
One day, they all find themselves pulled to a light shop at the end of a dubious alleyway, where the shopkeeper (Ju Ji-hoon) may contain the key to their past, present and future.
The cast also includes the 2019 hit film Parasite’s Lee Jung-eun who stars as Jung Yu-hee, a distraught mother, and Apple TV+ drama Pachinko’s breakout star Kim Min-ha as Sunhae, a screenwriter.
The series is based on a namesake webtoon by screenwriter Kang Full.
Kang shared that he is pleased with the adaptation, stating that he considers the on-screen portrayal to be ‘richer than the original’.
“I drew Light Shop as a webtoon 13 years ago,” he said in an interview.
“There were stories in the original that I couldn’t fully express.
“This series unravels the stories that couldn’t be shown in the webtoon, and the actors have been able to portray them in a more three-dimensional way,” he added.
