Even back in the 1980s, when pointed-toe shoes were enjoying perhaps their greatest heyday, they never made sense to me. I totally get the idea of using clothes to, as one's mum might say, "enhance one's natural assets" -_which generally means the precise opposite of that, as it's just a pretty way of saying "faking it".
