Is there any role in any film that Nicolas Cage won’t take these days? It has been well-publicised that he was swindled by his accountant and lost a fortune, but taking on projects like this to perhaps fund his penchant for flash cars and a big house lowers my estimation of him considerably.
The action film Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, named after the famous painting by Yuan Dynasty painter Huang Gongwang, will start shooting in Dubai.
The film’s key scenes are being filmed at Atlantis, The Palm and other Dubai landmarks, including The Burj Arab and the Burj Khalifa, with the support of the Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing.
Insiders say the shooting is comparable to the production of Mission Impossible 4, in terms of team, equipment and creative use of space. It will be filmed across four countries and six cities: Dubai, Hangzhou, Fuyang, Taipei, Tokyo and Milan.
The project is the first Chinese film to be predominantly produced outside of China. The storyline is a modern legend combining duels of life vs death, between justice and evil, with the complexity of the pains and sorrows of the heroes and heroines, as inspired by the painting.
