Gulf Weekly Where can I find flash games for kids?

Dear Comp Guy,
I have a six-year-old daughter and she loves playing computer games. I have often seen children playing flash games online. Being a tech guru, can you suggest some good website which offers free of charge downloadable flash games for small children of 6-10 years.

Hi Mohammed,
Check out www.shockwave.com and the DMOZ directory listing for online games at https://dmoz.org/Kids_and_Teens/Games/Online/ for some downloads and creative inspiration.

Dear Comp Guy,
I have a Celeron with 256MB RAM and 40 GB hard disc with Windows ME loaded on it. Recently my PC after booting displayed a message “Kernel fault”. What should I do. Do I need to reinstall Windows ME, if so I do not have the software. Please advise.
Ian Bob,

Hi Ian,
Your problem isn’t very clear — if Windows fails to start completely after booting you’d have no option but to reinstall. However, if Windows boots, the problem could be caused due to corrupted files or a programme – we need isolate the exact cause. In any case, you’d be better off getting hold of the Windows installation CD from wherever you first got it for a definitive fix.

Dear Comp Guy,
Last week I bought a digital camera. I want to know which is a good basic level image editing application free to download from the Internet. There are so many of them in the market but it is too confusing to decide which one to trust. Don’t tell me about Photoshop — it is too complicated for a person like me.

Hi Christine,
If you’re looking for an easy to use, free graphics-editing solution, give Serif Photoplus 6 a try (https://www.freeserifsoftware.com). Picasa2 by Google (free) is also a superb tool to catalogue and perform basic editing functions on your photos (https://picasa.google.com).

Dear Comp Guy,
I bought a licensed copy of Autocad 13. The damn thing won’t work on my laptop. I am using Acer Travelmate with 1.75 Ghz with 512MB RAM and 40 GB HDD. What should I do?
James Arthur,
Oman

Dear Arthur,
Your hardware configuration seems basic but may be able to handle Autocad — of course, optimal specs would include a lot more RAM, CPU speed and a superb graphics card. What processor (e.g. Pentium IV) does your laptop have and what is the exact problem/message you get? Send me an email at jj@ixpats.com
