It is a sad fact that in our society, many women are abused by their husbands, fathers or other family members.
It is therefore very important that women are physically able to defend themselves against such attacks. She will then be able to repel any attack and prevent any serious physical damage. However, being able to defend herself physically is not the only solution. A woman must also be able to defend herself emotionally by building up her self esteem, practicing relaxation techniques, and understanding her problems. She has to be able to think realistically instead of emotionally. In this way, if she finds herself in a situation where self defence is necessary, she has the necessary mental strength to deal with the trauma in addition to having the confidence to know that she is able to ward off the attack. When faced with physical or sexual abuse by someone she feels emotionally close to, a woman can experience panic, become depressed, anxious, and confused, so it is vital that she develops the energy to and ability to defend herself both emotionally and physically. By teaching herself these coping systems she will be able to handle these situations in a more effective way.
