The Good
Inventive persistent campaign draws you into online team-based competition; well-designed mech-building system; distinctive mech designs and impressive presentation during battles.
The Bad
Single-player portion of the game is undercooked and relatively disappointing.
The Verdict
This unique mech combat sim looks great in action, but gets most of its mileage out of its persistent online campaign, which can be very fun for dedicated players.

Glory of the Roman Empire
PC
CDV Software

The Good
Casual feel makes city-building here easy to master; no micromanagement; fast-moving campaign that zips all over the Roman empire.
The Bad
Far too easy; game mechanics so simplistic that more advanced players are apt to get bored; weak Roman setting.
The Verdict
Glory of the Roman Empire aims low with a light take on the city-building genre.

MTX Motorax
PSP
Activision

The Good
More than 30 tracks, plus a track editor to keep you busy; the bikes handle well; computer-controlled riders put up a good challenge; several different types of events to keep things interesting.
The Bad
Races are limited to only four riders; the artificial intelligence isn’t as consistent as it should be.
The Verdict
MTX Mototrax offers a respectable challenge and fun, satisfying racing in one relatively cheap package.

Juiced: Eliminator
PSP
THQ

The Good
Lots of licensed cars; team racing mechanic is interesting; solid roster of modes and multi-player features.
The Bad
Driving model lacks any measure of excitement; car customisation options are pretty lacklustre; career mode is deep but also somewhat frustrating; drab tracks and slightly strange-looking car models; the style races aren’t fun at all.
The Verdict
Juiced wasn’t an impressive street racer a year ago when it was released on consoles, so it is perhaps only logical that a year later, the game is just as unimpressive as a PSP port.
