Gulf Weekly Your PC in the palm of your hand

Sony Gulf has introduced to the Middle East the “world’s smallest and lightest PC”, with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology and Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system, the VAIO UX.

The pocket-sized PC, weighing just over 500gm, performs as a full-size computer and is priced at Dh7,995. The VAIO UX is available at selected Jumbo electronics showrooms and other electronics outlets in the UAE.
The VAIO UX, with an Intel® Core™ Solo Processor U1400, offers you a fast processing experience and long battery life making it easy to use where ever you go. This model also features a 4.5-inch wide WSVGA screen with Clear Bright LCD technology for viewing that slides up to expose an integrated keyboard. This allows you to access familiar applications easily in the same way you would on a full-sized computer. It is also designed with convex curves on the back allowing easy grip and convenient usage.
The pocket-sized PC also comes equipped with a stylus and Sony’s VAIO touch launcher for quick access to functions frequently used such as Internet access, e-mail, various computer applications, games and music.
The UX model also incorporates two built-in cameras – one in front (0.3 mega pixels) for VoIP communication for on-the-go video conferencing and another located on the back (1.3 mega pixels) for taking photographs. A display/LAN adapter is included to connect the PC to a projector, making it easy to share presentations and spreadsheets with a group.
Security is also a top priority. The VAIO UX PC comes equipped with an integrated biometrics fingerprint sensor, so you do not have to remember passwords. Incorporated VAIO Hard Disc Drive protection has been added to protect the unit’s hard disc drive and reduces the risk of data loss should it be dropped.
For added convenience, a port replicator with three 2.0 USB ports, Ethernet, VGA, iLink® IEEE-1394 interface and an AV output comes with the unit, making it easy to connect to peripherals like a full-sized keyboard, display and speakers when back in the office or at home.
