Virgin to allow mobile calls next year
WORLDWIDE: Virgin Atlantic will give passengers the capability to make in-flight mobile phone calls or text messages next year on a trial basis, a report said.
Virgin will become the third company to announce intentions to test on-board mobile telephony after Air France-KLM and Ryanair.
Airbus A380 ‘may face new delays’
PARIS: Planemaker Airbus may have to announce further delays to the production of the A380, the head of BAE Systems has said.
Mike Turner issued the warning just a week after BAE agreed to sell its 20 per cent stake in the aircraft business, said a BBC report. But majority owner EADS denied the claims, saying it was still carrying out an internal audit into the delays.
Dubai to invest $81bn in aviation
Dubai: Dubai is investing a total of $81.6 billion in numerous aviation projects, according to Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation and chairman and CEO of Emirates Group.
The planned investments will change the face of civil aviation across the globe, he told the 12th World Route Development Forum.

Dubai: Zabeel Investments, a diversified investment company, will develop Dh1.85 billion ($503 million) America Hotels & Resorts as part of the Dh100 billion ($27 billion) Bawadi hospitality and tourism project in Dubai.
