Gulf Weekly Singapore looks at Eid to woo Omani tourists

Officials at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Singapore Airlines were recently in Muscat to promote the South-east Asian island as a preferred tourism destination.

With the Eid holidays just round the corner, Singapore hopes to attract more Omani tourists to the island nation with various programmes. One of the upcoming attractions is the ‘One City, Three Festivals’ a programme designed to celebrate Singapore’s vibrant multi-cultural, multi-ethnic diversity.
The Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival, which marks the end of Ramadan, coincides with the Eid holidays. The festival, which will run until October 31, will see the streets of Kampong Glam and Geylang Serai come alive with decorative street lighting, arches and colourful bazaars. At around the same time, Little India, Singapore’s Indian community, will celebrate Deepavali or the Festival of Lights till October 29.
To encourage more visitors from the Middle East, STB has launched a new Muslim Visitor’s Guide featuring essential information that also includes a list of restaurants certified by MUIS, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore.
