DJ Sander Kleinenberg, who is ranked number 27 in DJ Magazine’s prestigious Top 100 List will be performing in Bahrain on April 14.
The evening will be held at the Gulf Hotel’s Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre and thousands of fans are expected to attend Sander’s show. He is considered by many as the father of Detroit techno in the Netherlands, and is highly respected in the electronic music world for his deep, groovy sounds woven with impressive strings, lush melodies and plenty of funk and soul. The Travellin’ Be’rbeliies will take to stage at the Candles restaurant at the Dilmun Club in Saar tomorrow evening. As the Bahrain International Circuit gears up to for the Grand Prix, restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs are getting ready for some of the biggest events in Bahrain’s nightlife calendar. “This is the only place to be in the world this weekend. There are so many renowned DJs coming to the island, it’s going to be fantastic,” said Ray Reza, founder of events company OC Customs. Club supervisor at Likwid, Arun Mukundan, said: “It’s going to be a crazy weekend, and for the people coming into Bahrain there will be a huge variety of parties to attend.” Director of Gama Hotel Management — the company that runs Wrangler nightclub — Amitabh Mathur, said: “There will be people from all over the world. We’ll be very, very busy.” Everything from underground music nights to glitzy fashion showcases will be on the menu as the country revels in Formula 1 fever. Picasso Events Management operations manager, Damian D’Costa, is holding an exclusive warm-up party on Thursday at the Gulf Hotel. ‘Glitz and Glam’ the official fashion TV grand opening weekend party will kick off the weekend. The multi-award-winning DJ Christopher Lawrence, will play at Al Sawani restaurant on Fateh Highway on Friday night. The producer of the dance floor hit, ‘Made in Bahrain,’ will be the star attraction at the outdoor beach side event. The global star has been ranked as the number one American DJ and the number four worldwide by DJ MAG’s Top One Hundred poll this year. He was recently crowned ‘Best DJ’ at the Dancestar USA Awards. Lawrence drew a crowd of over 20,000 people in Los Angeles last New Year’s Eve at the event ‘Together as One’. Dubbed super-star DJ by URB Magazine, and ‘one of the ‘most popular DJs on the global circuit by DJ Magazine, Lawrence has been booked to play in Bahrain by events company OC Customs. Three massive projector screens, two state of the art sound systems, a laser system, tribal dancers and fire dancers will accompany the trance marathon. He is flying in from Las Vegas to headline the show which is the second OC Customs event to celebrate the F1. Bahrain’s only true underground house & techno club will be moving to the Coral Beach Club for one night only on April 15. “We’re taking over the centre space at the Coral Beach Club and doing it up exactly like Likwid,” said club supervisor Arun Mukundan. A specially configured KV2 system is being especially installed to give the space that “oomph” that Likwid is famous for and specifically to the requirements of electronic house stars David Duriez and Mazi Namvar who will be spinning back to back all night long. Mazi & Duriez last performed in Bahrain together at Likwid for the club’s 5th anniversary celebrations in June 2005. They are back in the studio together after the success of this year’s ‘Chicago, A Wake up Call’ a track that has been “destroying” dance floors the world over. The Official Fashion TV (FTV) Grand Prix Opening weekend party is the event to be seen at. The evening of glamour and glitz will be held at the Gulf Hotel’s Awal Ballroom tommorow at 9pm. FTV will dominate the night’s events with the support o some of Bahrain’s most prestigious trends in fashion, motor sports and media.
