MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) has upgraded its location-based services facilities.

Customers can now, at the touch of a button, receive driving directions from one point in Bahrain to another via SMS and MMS using M-Guide, a directory service on a specially-designed menu on each customer’s MTC-Vodafone phone.
M-Guide is available to all MTC-Vodafone customers and will be especially useful for those who are new to the kingdom.
For just 200 fils per message, both text directions and maps are available on demand for mobile users requiring information on how to get from point A to B.
Users can also find out how to avoid road works en route to an important meeting; how to locate their favourite restaurant, or simply get instructions on how to get back home safely after a long and tiring day.
The upgraded LBS service results from an agreement with GEOMATEC enabling access to frequent road information updates.
MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) chief operating officer, Dr Ahmed Shatti, said: “Our customers can now benefit from on-the-spot, accurate directions that will help them to reduce time spent on the road. This innovative, unique and exciting new LBS service will thrill customers.”
