French chefs of the Diplomat Radisson SAS, Golden Tulip, Gulf and InterContinental Regency hotels will team up to present a gala dinner at the Golden Tulip on May 3 during French Week, writes Roy Kietzman.

“We’re a French organisation,” said Khalid Almoayyed, Bahrain chapter president of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, “and we’re privileged in playing a role in the success of French Week by supporting this gastronomic event.”
The next dinner event of the chaine takes place on May 24 at Crowne Plaza.
At a recent five-course ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ themed dinner the 60 guests were greeted by a Lawrence look-alike tending horses before an entrance of bedouin-garbed attendants holding torches.
The courses were titled after episodes in the ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ classic film with Hollywood scores used to herald the entry of each course. ‘Peninsula’ was a rich “home-cooked soup,” of lentils, chickpeas and wild mushrooms, according to Adrine Katchadurian, the evening’s critic.
In her critique, Katchadurian praised the Levant ingredients used in the presentations as reflecting cooking recalled from her own upbringing in the Middle East. “If I had a criticism to make of the meal, it was that the portions were too big,” she said.
