Bahraini Sultan Abdulla is Riffa Golf Club’s new Club Champion after narrowly holding off last year’s champion Nasser Yacoob to win the Gents Flight A competition 1 up.
In the Ladies Flight A, Olive Wagstaff had a putt for the championship but it slid past the hole resulting in extra holes being played.
Four-time champion Emma Boyd held her nerve throughout the replay and finally prevailed over Wagstaff on the second extra hole.
In Gents Flight B Steve Newall beat Isa Al Borshaid by 2 holes and former lady captain Linda Simpson clinched Ladies Flight B after beating former champion Dena Wales on the last hole.
The Junior Final was won convincingly by 17-year old Bahraini Abdulla Jalal who beat Saoud Salam 6 and 5.
“The annual club championships were very closely fought with an excellent standard of golf being played at Riffa Golf Club,” said Dave Stevenson, the Dubai-based representative of Titleist, the tournament’s sponsor.
Mr Stevenson presented trophies to the winners.
