I love living in Bahrain – it’s like no-where else I can think of in the world.

You just never know what’s around the corner and what might happen. Some people hate living like this, but it suits me fine.
Let me give you an example; before I went on holidays I wrote in my column that I was about to be ‘Carlos’ – meaning I no longer had a car. No transport, nothing – not so much as a bike unless you include my daughter Hannah’s tricycle (which she happily agreed to share with me).
My wife, Wendy, has a car but she made it clear that she had first dibs on any ‘sharing’ that we might have to do, and, that I had to sort myself out with some wheels pronto.
Wendy does not always share my view that, given a bit of a push, things will generally sort themselves out for the best.
Well, lucky me - the car problem has been sorted out, in the most magical of ways. After reading of my predicament, John McIsaac; chief executive of ‘Tele-Gulf’, made contact to see if his company could help with sponsorship.
Could they ever! I jumped at the chance of being associated with Tele-Gulf (which is part of a famous worldwide company known in many places as simply the ‘Yellow Pages’).
I spoke to John just before we went away about my preferences and he kindly kept in contact. On our return I met with him and K Bala (the general manager of Tele-Gulf) at the National Motors Showroom in Sitra and chose my new mode of transport; a brand new shiny Honda CRV.
There were a few colours to choose from.  So I left it up to little Hannah to pick one, and she came up with the ‘Gold Metallic’ shade.
I was greatly relieved about this as her favourite colour is black. I think she may have mistaken it for light brown (and brown is her mummy’s favourite colour).  The next surprise I had was the stickers on the paint job down the sides of the car.  They’re of song music and look great with the company’s logo. I’m not telling you which song yet. (But you might want to keep this picture of the car for future reference).
I’m just so happy with the car, it feels exactly the right size, there’s a 4WD view but I can park in a regular car space. The best bit is the radio / CD player – it adjusts the volume automatically to stay at the same level above the engine noise.  What a great idea!
Having a new car does have its problems though. The manufacturer says to limit speed to under 80kmh for the first 1,000km. This is not always easy to do. So if you see me on the highway, please go easy on the overtaking, and please don’t tailgate and flash your headlights at me either … I’m not allowed to go any faster!
I want to share my joy, so if you see me out and about give me a wave and a cheery smile
It’s been another hectic week and on Friday I got on down to the Ez-FiT Sportsplex to dj’d/compere for them at a fund-raiser for a swimming pool and crèche facility.
We had lots of games; including hitting a Piñata in the shape of a huge football – (thanks Nancy Hill).
It took ages to break but after lots of hitting, the kids smashed it open to reveal lots of goodies that were inside.
We also had three-legged races, played four corners and shooting hoops. I’d like to make a special mention of Andy Dick for being goalkeeper and letting loads of people take penalties against him (next time try keeping your legs together mate)!  The biggest laugh of the day was after the kids played musical chairs, when we had an ‘adults only’ game.
It was great fun watching mums and dads run round and try to get on chairs when the music stopped.
Well done to Annette Egan (also known as Molly Malone) who was the overall winner – but talk about competitive ... Ha!
Congratulations and thanks also to Chris Pardon and all the staff at Ez-FiT, and to everyone concerned for making it a day to be remembered.
On Saturday my family was invited to Sheikha Hessa Girls’ School to watch a performance by the dancers at ‘Victoria Dance’.
It was titled ‘Abba Elton Fusion’ and featured students aged from three to 16 performing to an appreciative family-orientated audience.
The kids did a great job and the mums and dads couldn’t have been prouder. I looked about and thought that in a couple of years this could be me sitting armed with a video recorder – or maybe not, Hannah loves dancing but only if it’s the ‘Hannah way’ and loves horses and ponies more than anything else.
Here are some winners from past quizzes (that can pick up their prizes from the Gulf Weekly office).  Please call the editor’s secretary Lolita on Monday morning 17625383.
The winners of the Brothermandude CD and T-shirt are Rishant, Steve, Christine and Cimone.
Winners of Funland tickets are Reem, Janet, Milano, Bernadette, Akash and Mohanna and winners of T-shirts from Riffa Golf club are Rashid, Qaher and Zoe.
Bye for now,
Krazy Kevin
