Gulf Weekly Championship set to encourage local tennis talent

Riffa Views Signature Estates announced its title sponsorship of the Asian 14/U series tennis championship to be held in Bahrain in November.

The ‘Riffa Views Series Championship’ agreement was encouraged by celebrity tennis legend Boris Becker during his visit to Bahrain in February, in conjunction with Ajay Pathak, member of the Asian Tennis Federation Juniors’ Committee.
The championship is the culmination of the Asian 14/U tennis series, and kicks off on November 19.
This event follows the final of the Riffa Views Cup, which happens to be the final leg of the series. The tournament will see players from all over Asia convene in Bahrain to face off against their international counterparts.
The championship event rotates annually around Asian countries, and this year Bahrain will host the first ever crowning of winners in a Middle-eastern country.
The Riffa Views Cup held in November 2006, was the first international tennis tournament ever held in Bahrain.
Riffa Views CEO Richard Browning said: “Tennis in Bahrain has increasing prevalence, and it is part of Riffa Views’ mission to lend our continual support to the game, in order to put Bahrain on the map as a regional contender in the sport.
“We are constantly striving to enhance the talent and potential of young Bahrainis in tennis.”
“The Riffa Views’ lifestyle promotes healthy living and, as such, we are pleased to support events that encourage young enthusiasts to adopt the same values. We are confident the Bahrain Tennis Club, under the new and dynamic leadership of Bahrain Tennis Club president Khamis Al Muqla, will be an excellent host for this event,” Mr Browning added.
Mr Al Muqla said: “Riffa Views is leading the way for Bahrain’s organisations to support the game of tennis in the kingdom.
“The Bahrain Tennis Club is constantly striving to develop local players to a calibre high enough to compete at a regional level – for this reason corporate support is highly valued.”
