Tourism leaders are looking forward to an increase number of visitors coming to Jordan after the announcement that the ancient city of Petra has been voted as part of the new ‘Seven Wonders of the World’.
With its prime location, the newly-renovated Grand Hyatt Amman, is hoping to attract a growing number of business and leisure travellers wishing to discover the city’s local attractions. “After the announcement of Petra being one of the new ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ Jordan looks forward to receiving a great number of visitors looking to discover the country’s local attractions,” said Thierry Bertin, area director of marketing, Middle East, Hyatt International Hotels and Resorts. “We always believed Petra was a special attraction, now we are ecstatic that it has reached the fame of being part of the world’s wonders.” The hotel runs tours to Petra on a daily basis along with other local attractions including the Roman City of Jerash, the Wadi Rum desert landscape and Aqaba, the local town bordering the Red Sea. Petra, which means ‘stone’ in Greek, is nestled between in a great rift valley south of the Dead Sea. For seven centuries, this architectural wonder dissolved into a mystic legend only known to the local Bedouins. The Nabateans – Arabs during pre-Roman times – carved this wonderland of temples, tombs and elaborate buildings out of solid rock. The best time to visit this historical marvel is during the early morning and late afternoon when the sandstone rock glows red. Grand Hyatt Amman offers guests a luxurious experience while discovering Jordan’s famous sites and sounds. The hotel boasts 311 rooms and suites and 50 luxury residential apartments alongside three top-class restaurants, plus an all-day delicatessen for sandwiches, cakes and pastries. The hotel recently completed the final phase of renovation with the openings of the new ‘Grand Club Lounge’ in May following the successful introduction of the hotel’s cutting-edge venues, 32º North, The Lounge and The Terrace. Grand Hyatt Amman also offers a Club Olympus Fitness Centre with indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as sauna, steam rooms and massage services.
