DJ Mountana will entertain guests at the Novotel Al Dana Resort’s private beach.

The Indian Club in Manama is set to host a show by a group of South Indian artists on August 2. ‘Summer Vibes 2007’ will consist of music, dance and comedy acts by renowned artistes including Sanal Kumar, Alex Kayalakkakam, Pramila, Biju, Dency Xavier, Sreeja, Shaiju Kavanakudy, Kanakalatha, Subi Suresh, Chaya and Tini Tom. The International Oud Day will be commemorated at the Jerash festival in the ancient city of Jerash, Jordan. The Ritz Carlton in the Seef District is offering special summer attractions for children with its ‘Ritz Kids Summer Camp 2007’ from August 5 to August 8, Sunday to Wednesday. The camp will have activities of fun, learning and adventure for children between six and 12 years old. The highlights include treasure hunts, sports academy, on the job training, boat tours, kayaking, a talent show, pool games, camp sleepover and the closing ceremonies. ‘Merlin and the Knights of Adventure’ summer programme at the RIA Center in Adliya for children from ages two to 14. The activities include medieval cookery, costume making, Merlin’s cave sensory sensation, Sir Belvedere’s puppet making workshop, Sir Lancelot’s maze, Merlin’s magic class, Avalon’s greensward football, May pole and traditional dancing, potions and spells, jousting and more. • Ray Lewis of ‘The Drifters’ makes his first visit to the Middle East on August 8 at the JJ’s Irish Pub in the Al Bustan Hotel in Adliya. Ray was a member of the group during the 1970s and 80s singing hit songs like ‘Under The Boardwalk’, ‘Saturday Night at the Movies’, ‘Up on the Roof’, ‘There Goes my First Love’, and ‘More than a Number in my Little Red Book’. He has also performed several times at the Royal Variety Performance in front of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth. Ray will hit the stage at 9pm. For more information or table reservations call 36470314.

The 2007 Little Picassos Drawing Competition will be held on August 10 at the Dana Mall in Sanabis from 10am to 10pm. The ‘Water is Life’ competition will be held in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Water. Award-winning Indian musician, Pankaj Udhas, will visit the kingdom on September 7 as part of his Silver Jubilee Tour at the Bahrain Conference Centre at the Crowne Plaza in Manama.
This year marks 25 years of the Ghazal maestro’s involvement in the music industry. Some of his popular hits are ‘Chitthi Aaayi Hain’, ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, ‘Aur Ahista’ and ‘Chandi Jaisa Rang’. He has recorded 35 albums including Lamha, Goonghat, Nasheela, Jaaneman and Stolen Moments and contributed songs for over 50 films since 1978. In 2006 he was presented the Padma Shri award by the Indian Government.
