Having a problem with your mane? Then perhaps you should trot down to your local store and pick up a bottle of Mane ’n Tail – the new shampoo that is causing a sensation in the kingdom!
As the name suggests, the Mane ’n Tail product line was originally developed for use on horses. Experts suggest that the shampoo is a good choice for adults with damaged hair as its gentle, pH balanced formula is fortified with moisturisers and emollients providing body and shine. This along with its conditioner provides an ‘exclusive protein enriched formula which maintains, nourishes and conditions hair and scalp to aid healthy hair growth’. The product was first launched in 1970 by Devon Katzev’s family at their farmhouse in Pennsylvania, US. Mr Katzev said: “They worked so well groomers started using the products on themselves to achieve the beautiful results they saw with their horses.” Mane ’n Tail shampoo and conditioners were originally formulated for the coats, manes, and tails of horses and according to various news reports that followed its superior results quickly gained “recognition and popularity with people looking for stronger, prettier, longer hair”. Straight Arrow Incorporated, parent company of the Mane ’n Tail products, introduced a line formulated for men and women due to the high demand and popularity. Reports suggest a number of Hollywood celebrities are also smitten by the brand and label it as one of their “beauty secrets”. The contents of the products are natural ingredients including coconut oil, lanolin and vegetable oil. In Bahrain, the brand is not an uncommon sight, but probably for its simple and plain presentation has gone largely unnoticed expect by a growing number of consumers. “The brand is doing excellently at our supermarket. Ever since we got it here four months ago the product has been selling well. People flock in and buy it in bunches of five or six at a time,” said a spokesperson for Al Jazira Supermarket. The brand, costing around BD3, is available at most beauty stores and supermarkets across the kingdom.
