A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan Embassy, New Zinj, to mark the country’s 60th Independence Day on August 14.
Ambassador Iftikhar Hussain Kazmi, who raised the country’s national flag, addressed more than 200 community members. A group of students from the Pakistan Urdu School sang the national anthem.
The Pakistan Club, Manama, also hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the day.
A colourful programme, featuring speeches and national songs by Pakistan Urdu School students along with poetry recitals and patriotic songs from local poets and artists, was held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers auditorium, Juffair. It was organised by the Pakistan Urdu Literary Society (Halqa-e-Adab) in association with the Pakistan Women’s Association and the Pakistan Embassy community welfare committee.
