The Latin Jazz Ensemble, widely regarded as Bahrain’s maestros of Latin music, performed at the Summer Latin Fiesta last Thursday.

The event, which took place at the Gulf Hotel’s Sherlock Holmes, also featured a performance by a troupe of expert Latino dancers who accompanied the band’s performance. More than 800 people attended the event sponsored by KLM and Gulf Cellar. The best-dressed Latin stars won prizes and patrons entered into a lucky prize draw. Above, guests enjoying at the event.

A two-week Indian food festival is being held at Café Sayah at the Delmon International Hotel, Manama, to coincide with India’s 60th Independence Day celebrations. A troupe of ghazal singers have been flown in especially for the event.

Jameel Saeed Al Mansoor won a laptop in Batelco’s Handset Summer Festival Scratch & Win. Batelco has launched the festival in co-operation with Fakhro Electronics, the agent for Sony Ericsson in Bahrain. Fakhro Electronics sales manager Mahdi Abdulla presented Mr Al Mansoor with his prize at a ceremony attended by Batelco Mobile Marketing Specialist Sadeq Al Asbool, Fakhro Electronics marketing manager Hussain Al Madeh and public relations manager Ahmed Hujairi. Customers who purchase Sony Ericsson mobile phones still have the chance to win prizes including two laptops, Sony Ericsson mobile phones, bluetooth, as well as tickets from Bahrain Cinema Company and McDonald’s vouchers.
