Gulf Weekly Glory for Bahrain race aces in the UK

BAHRAIN'S Hamad Al Fardan and Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa finished with three National Class podium-places between them this week in round nine of the British Formula Three International Series, held at the Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire, England.

Al Fardan took two of the podium berths, beginning the day with second place in race one (R1). He was then third in race two (R2) while Shaikh Salman took second, which marked the first time in the F3 that both Bahrainis were on the podium for the same race. Shaikh Salman was fifth earlier in R1.
“This is a great result for the team and me,” Al Fardan said. “It was a really difficult round; the weather was very hot and it made the track quite slippery. We started badly in R1 but managed to make the necessary adjustments, and in R2 we did really good as I managed to move up two places from where I started. Thankfully, we got to the podium twice.”
Shaikh Salman commented: “R1 was a bit of a disaster; the car was not in the right set-up and my tyre took a lot of damage, so considering the circumstances, the result was not too bad. R2 was a lot better. We fixed our problems and I was able to make a stronger push for a good finish.”
Al Fardan, who drives with Swedish team Performance Racing Europe, earned his ninth and 10th podiums of the series. Shaikh Salman, meanwhile, claimed his second for the year.
