Unbridled beauty was on the menu at  theGlitz and Glamour Bridal Hair and Make-up event held at the Golden Tulip, Manama, last week.

The talents of 11 of Bahrain’s top hairdressers and make-up artists were displayed as models dressed as brides were paraded for a panel of judges in the hotel’s Gilgamesh ballroom.
More than 400 spectators showed up to watch the stylists as they applied make-up and showed off the glamorous hairstyles they had created at their salons before the event.
The event was organised by the Filipino Club Hairdressers Barbers and Cosmetologists Guild (FCHBCG) under the patronage of the Philippines Embassy.
Chief Organiser and vice-president of the FCHBCG Lorenzo Ayala said: “With the wedding season in December nearly upon us we thought that this would be an apt way to showcase the transformation of a simple woman into a beautiful bride.”
Assistant organiser, Daphne Manuel, who is a hairdresser at Babel Salon, said: “This is the second time this event has happened. We had success with the first one and this is even better. We hope to hold another next year.”
President of the FCHBCG, Asuncion Dianongco said: “This event is about new commerce. It’s not just about the famous salons but about the ones that aren’t. We want to give them a chance to be a success and to become famous.”
Philippines Ambassador Eduardo Maglaya, who also attended the event said: “The FCHBCG are one of the most active groups under the Filipino Club.
“What’s special about them and the event is that whatever proceeds are made are shared with needy countrymen, people in our resource centre and those who need help. These people are very dear to me.”
The event was judged by top hairstylist Stephen Grant and sales manager of Johnson and Johnson, Nader Hussein.
Mr Grant said: “What we’re looking for is make-up that suits the model and is best applied to her personality.”
Mr Hussein said: “This is a new experience for me but given my job I’m looking for youthful looking skin.”
Participants at the event included professionals the Palace of Bride Beauty Salon, Ashrakath Beauty Salon, Palace Beauty Salon, Lamison, Munaih Beauty Salon, One Stop Beauty Shop, Shabana’s Ladies Beauty Ladies Salon, Assila Beauty and Fitness Centre, Al Thurayat Ladies Salon as well as freelance make-up artists Buthaina Yusuf and Neelam Gill.
