Batelco welcomed a delegation from Omantel to experience their new Next Generation Network (NGN).
The delegates visited the new Softswitch Platform (SS), the new Network Operations Centre (NOC) and the recently migrated to NGN (Next Generation Network) site at Riffa.
The aim of the visit was to benefit from Batelco’s first hand experience in implementing the NGN and to witness the progress being made by Batelco in their Broadband Bahrain programme.
“Omantel are currently following a similar path to Batelco to implement NGN as part their future Broadband initiatives for Oman,” said Batelco Networks and technology general manager Ebrahim Zainal.
“Batelco is leading the field in the NGN revolution and is on target to become the first country in the world with end to end NGN. Therefore Omantel were very pleased to visit Bahrain and learn from our experience.”
“As Batelco is nearing completion of its NGN project, the Company is well placed to offer Omantel the support they require to ensure they are successful,” he added.
“In addition, Batelco is benefiting from an exchange of experience and expertise through the collaboration with Omantel.”
