Reigning Australian V8 Supercars Champion Rick Kelly has created a storm in the kingdom on a promotional tour prior to this weekend's Desert 400 - Bahrain's round of the V8 Supercars Championship.

Rick, 24, from Mildura, Victoria, drives for the Toll Holden team and has been undertaking a host of promotional activities both in Bahrain and in neighbouring countries.

Apart from the autograph sessions and appearances, he has also been visiting local school children to educate them on the success of the V8 championship and lending his support to the growing environmental programmes being promoted by both V8 Supercars and the BIC.

More than 1.7 million people attend V8 events in Australia, China and New Zealand each year.

Tickets for the V8 Supercars Desert 400 weekend (November 1-3) are BD10 for adults and half-price for children up to the age of 15. They are selling fast and are available either by calling the Ticket Hotline on 1745000 or visiting the BIC stand in Seef Mall.

Rick - recently voted one of Australia's most eligible bachelors - met GulfWeekly's Rosamund de Sybil to discuss the sporting phenomenon and to allow her to look into his "huge chocolate eyes of the variety you can get lost in".
