Young people of Bahrain deserve a voice - somewhere to raise their concerns and communicate their views, opinions and ideas on how to make the kingdom an even better place to live.
In 2004 or 2005, (I can't really remember the year since plans to stage one have been postponed more than once) I got my application to run for membership of the Bahraini Youth Parliament.
Like all my friends, I was excited about the buzz and the thrill of the fact that the youth in Bahrain were actually going to be given a proper medium to make our voices heard.
However, problems started when the General Organisation for Youth and Sports (Goys)_kept on postponing meetings and the elections itself.
I personally stopped counting the number of postponements after the fifth time the whole thing was delayed.
To me, it doesn't really come as a surprise since the Goys and some of its leading members are renowned for giving silly excuses for delaying the parliament.
I mean how hard can it be?
What really surprises but more embarrasses me and my fellow peers is the fact that countries such as Yemen and Afghanistan have already started their own Youth Parliament without any hitch.
It is seldom that you see the youth of Bahrain taking a stand since there is no channel to voice an opinion in the first place!
My message to the organisers, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Sports and Youth is simple: take a chance in supporting the youth - life does not only exist in our four-walled classrooms.
There are kids out there who are dynamic and can be the future leaders of this very country.
Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk!
