What a race and what a result for everyone. At the weekend 2,000 runners, assisted by 350 marshalls and time-keepers, took part in the 48km Bahrain Marathon Relay 2007.
The race began and ended at the Bahrain International Circuit and raised over BD32,000 for charity.
The annual sporting event, which has been organised for the past 27-years has seen a steady increase in the number of national and international athletes taking part.
Just two-years ago the relay attracted 106 teams, it rose to 150 this year.
Peter Wade, co-chairman of the organising committee at Bahrain Round Table, said: 'The atmosphere was terrific. The numbers have been going up every year which proves that we have a winning formula.
'We do not plan any major changes next year although one aspect we do want to enhance is having more entertainment at the finish line.'
The top team, Saad Specialist Hospital A, set a new record of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 19 seconds, and took the premier position in the international elite men/mixed category. Saad Specialist Hospital B team followed shortly behind in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 16 seconds.
