Gulf Weekly ON THE FRONTLINE
OF TRAFFIC
TRAUMA

AS Bahrain's roads become more congested valiant police officers have the unenviable task of trying to control the flow of traffic amidst a barrage of abuse and complete ignorance of driving etiquette.

Amidst honking horns and road rage the intrepid men in their crisp white uniforms perform their duties with patience and incredible tolerance.

They move their hands and swing their bodies on some of the busiest junctions and roundabouts in the kingdom in the manner of a conductor instructing the finest orchestra.

But keeping today's drivers in tune with the rules of the road is a totally different matter as two unsung heroes of the highway revealed.

GulfWeekly's Anasuya Kesavan spoke exclusively to Waleed Abdulla, 45, and Hassan Ali Hassan, 29. The two 'rejal muroors', as they are called in Arabic, believe that while it is a test of patience and nerves, duty overrides all the hardships of the task.
