Dear Stan,I noticed a recent report in GulfWeekly about the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show on February 22-24 at the international exhibition centre and could not help thinking that there ought to be a prize for the most colourful compound in the kingdom.
I live in Al Janayna in Saar and must comment on the most colourful array of plants that are in full bloom.
They are stunning and brighten up each day with red, orange, purple and gold flowers.
I'm not sure what these small bushes or little trees are called as I've never seen anything like them in the UK - especially not in December!
I wonder if any of your readers would be able to identify them.

Dear Stan,
Good work with the weekly shopping survey!
My wife was away for a while and I found myself doing the shopping - to make it less boring I like to keep mental track of the total cost of things and find very often that my total comes to quite a lot less than that at the checkout.
There has been NOT ONE shopping load recently where at least one item has been charged at a price at least 10 per cent, sometimes much higher, than that marked on the shelf.
The reaction when confronted with this anomaly is usually one of complete indifference, and I now just accept this as normal.
