SIR Michael Caine refuses to make New Year's resolutions because he is "too old".

The 74-year-old Hollywood star is past caring about what he will achieve in the future, and believes people should concentrate on the present.

He said: "I never make any New Year's resolutions anymore. When you get to my age you just think, 'To hell with it!'

"I have got some good advice, though. Live your life every day. Don't worry about tomorrow, and especially don't worry about yesterday.

"And most importantly, never worry about things you can't do anything about."

Caine has enjoyed a glittering Hollywood career since shooting to international stardom in 1964's Zulu.

He has two 'Best Actor in a Supporting Role' Oscars, for Hannah and Her Sisters in 1987 and The Cider House Rules in 2000.

In 2000, Caine was knighted by Queen Elizabeth for his services to British film. He accepted the honour at London's Buckingham Palace under his real name of Maurice Micklewhite.
