'Memories of Utopia' set for cultural screening
'Memories of Utopia' - an evening of sounds remembered will be presented at the Coral Beach Club on February 6 at 8pm.
'Memories of Utopia', an event by the same name as the documentary to be screened, is a cultural evening that will celebrate musical traditions of the past.
A screening of the film, featured in last week's GulfWeekly will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and, in association with the Ministry of Information's Culture and National Heritage Sector, a musical performance, by Mohammed bin Faris Band.
Memories of Utopia, a film by producing partners Najla Rizk, based in Cairo, Egypt, and locally-residing filmmaker, Marco Morelli, recounts the story of a Nubian musician, Fikri el Kachif, who travelled from Egypt to Sudan in search of the Nubian villages that had survived the flood caused by the building of the Aswan Dam in the 1960s.

A special theme night 'Viva Enigma' will be staged on January 25 at the Enigma in the Windsor Tower Hotel in Hoora. High Intenz band and DJ Neil will provide a selection of R&B, Hip Hop, Techno, House and Groove Music.
Viva Enigma is a celebration of the beginning of the fiesta season in the Philippines and to complement the theme the staff and the band will be dressed in carnival costumes.
The band will also organise games including tinikling, limbo rock and stop dance. A singing contest will also be conducted.

Bahrain's Annual Autumn Fair comes calling
Bahrain's annual Autumn Fair begins on Tuesday, January 22 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre till January 30. The fair will feature a wide range of products from nearly 25 countries. It will open for the public from 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 10pm with a 'special ladies' only morning on January 26 and 27. On January 22 the venue will remain open from 4pm to 10pm only.
