Runners to set the pace for half marathon

THE Bahrain Road Runners - under the umbrella of the Bahrain Athletics Association - will be organising the 31st Bahrain Half Marathon (21.1 km) race from the Marina Club on Friday.

Medical assistance and support will be provided by the Ministry of Health en route and there will be four refreshment stations at 3k / 6k / 9k and at the finish line serving water and Gatorade energy drink supplied by the Jawad Group of Bahrain.

Every finisher will receive a certificate of participation, outlining their name, time and age category.

For safety reasons one lane will be closed by cones by the Ministry of Housing and Works and traffic police will be directing and controlling motorists.

Runners wishing to register can do so on race day from 6.30am to 7.45am at the Marina Club's coffee shop.

The entry fee for BRR members is BD5 and non-members BD10 and runners will receive a mug and race number.

Each age category winner will receive a trophy, while every finisher will get a medal and a certificate of completion.

Five Bahrain Road Runners - Emad Al-Moayyed, Shaikh Rashid bin Salman Al Khalifa, Saleh Radhi, Tawfeeq Ghuloom Abbas and Adel Ghuloom Abbas - will be participating in this year's Marakesh International Marathon in Morroco on Sunday - a race which attracts over 10,000 runners.
