AS part of its commitment to young Bahrainis, Batelco, the kingdom's leading telecommunications company, annually hires a number of new graduates who have completed degrees in Bahrain and overseas.

Through the company's 'Graduate Trainee Programme', the students gain valuable work experience in various departments while completing a variety of assigned projects. All graduates who successfully meet the set requirements are guaranteed a permanent job placement at Batelco within nine to 12 months of joining.

Batelco chief executive Peter Kaliaropoulos recently met the latest new batch of 15 graduates who attended an introduction workshop at Batelco's new training centre located at the company's Hamala head quarters. Also present were networks general manager Ebrahim Zainal and training & development executive Masalik Al Haddad.

Mr Kaliaropoulos said that Batelco was delighted to provide work placements for new graduates each year. He spoke about Batelco's continual transformation and the importance of recruiting talented young people who can play a vital role in shaping the company's future.

He also spoke about the importance of learning good communication and negotiation skills, to support the body of knowledge the students had already learned at university.

"To be competitive in the job market requires many skills and also a positive and confident attitude when completing tasks and dealing with colleagues and customers," he added.
