The Gulf Air PGA Pro Captain Challenge will be returning to Bahrain this year on February 24-25 following the highly-successful staging of the event during the past three years at Riffa Views.

The prestigious tournament, which will again be co-sponsored by BMW and held in association with the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA), is open to PGA club professionals and their club captains throughout the UK, Ireland and the Middle East.

Qualifying rounds were held in seven regions of the UK and Ireland throughout 2007 and the winning pair from each region will travel to Bahrain this month to compete in the 36-hole final which will take place at His Majesty King Hamad's golf course in Safriya.

"We are very pleased to continue our support for this well-known event," said Gulf Air's CEO Bjorn Naff. "The finalists will be flown to Bahrain in Gulf Air's business class and will be treated to a luxurious four-night stay at the 5-star Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel.

"In addition to competing in the two-day tournament, they will also experience Bahraini hospitality at a number of functions and events, including an off-road experience at the Bahrain International Circuit and a golf simulator challenge at the Riffa Views Golf & Leisure retail outlet in Country Mall. They will also be playing the 'Power Play' golf concept for the first time ever in Bahrain."

This event receives wide media coverage in the UK and will really help to promote Bahrain as a tourist and golfing destination," said Michael Braidwood, general manager of the Royal Golf Club at Riffa Views, who is organising the event.

"A Pro Am Tournament will be held at His Majesty's golf course on the third day of the finalists' visit."
