The culmination of months of planning and hard work came to a climax with the announcement of Umm Al Salama Intermediate Girls School as the overall winner of the environmentally-focused Riffa Views Eden Challenge at the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show.
Judges - Chris Beardshaw, celebrity gardener and Riffa Views' Ambassador, and Shaika Maram Isa Al Khalifa, head of RVBIGS organising committee - presented the winning team with a cheque for BD3,000, in recognition of the originality of its design.
Mr Beardshaw said: "All seven of the category winners showed a truly amazing understanding of the need to nurture and respect the environment, so Shaikha Maram and I were faced with a difficult task.
"We agreed that Umm Al Salama Intermediate Girls school's entry was outstanding because it showed an advanced level of creativity and a well-developed sense of environmental awareness which was the focus of this competition."
