A new home and living concepts store - Fabindia has opened its door at the Country Mall in Budaiya.
Al Jazira group general manager K P Rajendran said: "We want to position the new store exclusively for the home. Our flagship store at the Al Murjan Centre in Juffair concentrates on apparel.
"Our brand is much appreciated by the Westerners and we have had many requests asking us to open a new store in Budaiya. With the Country Mall, it is a perfect location for our patrons who used to find it difficult to drive up to Juffair.
"Aside from the two stores, we have a kiosk in Seef Mall that gets huge response from Kuwaitis and Saudis."
Fabindia's presence in Bahrain began with the store at the Al Murjan Centre - Juffair and the success of this has lead to the opening of the new and bigger store at the Country Mall, Budaiya.
The new store is tastefully designed and showcases hand-woven and hand printed fabrics and exquisite hand-crafted products.
It has a large range of readymade garments available in different colours and sizes including full and half sleeve shirts, jackets, ties and kurtas for men and short and long kurtas for women. Also available are Indian salwars/churidars and dupattas (long scarves), long and short tops, capris, pants, skirts, caps and maternity gowns.
The furnishing section includes home products like lights and lamps, quilts, durries, home accessories and linen. Stationary items like handmade paper, photo frames, address books and files are also available.
Another attraction of the store is its organic foods section including oil-free chutneys, jams, and a variety of lentils, spices, and tea leaves.
Beauty care products from Sana, including soaps, creams and oils are also available in fragrances such as lemon, neem, jasmine, sandal, lavender and basil. Sana is Fabindia's in-house brand.
The products are sourced from over 7,500 craftsmen and artisans from all over India and are an ingenious blending of ethnic craftsmanship and contemporary designs using cotton, silk, wool, grass, linen and jute.
Established in 1960, Fabindia began as a wholesale export house catering to connoisseurs of fine hand woven and handloom textiles in the western world to eventually become a successful retail business.
Today Fabindia has 80 stores in India, and also stores in Rome, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar and Guangzhou.
The store is also planning an Abu Dhabi presence by the end of this year and has expansion plans for Kuwait and Qatar.
The Al Jazira Group holds the exclusive franchise agreement for Fabindia in Bahrain and Qatar.
