THE Palace in Adliya is carving a niche for film and art lovers on the island by providing a comfortable setting for a night at the movies.

The 'boutique hotel' has teamed up with BMMI to stage a 'Far Eastern fusion' of movie nights in the open air.

After the success of the hotel's LiveArt 2008 event held last month, in co-ordination with Bahrain's premiere art society Elham, it is preparing stage to introduce the 'Tiger Eye Movie Concept' - a first time in the kingdom.

From today, for three consecutive Wednesdays, the hotel will screen oriental movies - Hero, Spirited Away and The Promise.

Tiger Eye is a global concept created by an Asian beverage brand as part of promoting Asian non-commercial art movies.

Victoria Bushnell of BMMI, distributor and agency representative of the brand, said: 'Tiger Eye seeks to appeal to young people who are interested in Asian culture particularly through art and film. We believe it is a reflection of the growing cultural scene on the island.'

Patrick Farran, the hotel's general manager, said: 'Tiger Beer was one of our sponsors during LiveArt 08 and they liked the idea a lot and since the brand is related with art in Asia this match seemed ideal.'

The Palace is currently undergoing a renovation project divided into four phases of which the BD300,000 first phase is complete. It is planning on creating a 'comfortable zone' for customers with a limited number of rooms.

Mr Farram added: 'Since boutique and art goes hand-in-hand we were looking forward to doing something with art and film.'

Doors open at 8pm and the film starts at 9.30pm. Entry is BD3 per head. Visitors can relax and watch the movie on a bean bag or a bento box and watch the action under the stars.
