The grand finals of the Nescafe Show ’Em What U Got talent competition is being staged at the Baan Saeng Thai Auditorium on June 13. The 12 finalists will perform their chosen talent for three to five minutes in front of judges. Show starts at 8pm, entrance is free. For details contact 39277920.

 

A Jazz brunch is set to take place at the Upstairs Downstairs Restaurant in Adliya, on June 14 and to raise money for schools in Pakistan. It is being hosted by Bahrain resident Dr Sarah Clarke, who is planning to raise a minimum of BD2,000 as a participant in a trek in Jordan for The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a non-profit organisation in Pakistan that builds primary and secondary schools in rural and slum areas. The brunch will be held from 11.30am to 2.30pm and entry is BD16 per person and children under five enter free. For tickets contact 17713093.

 

The Manama Singers and Bahrain Sinfonia are set to welcome the Viva Opera! – a gala evening of music and songs at the Gulf International Convention Centre in Adliya on June 13. The event will feature music of Bizet’s Carmen, choruses from Verdi’s La Traviata and Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor.

The Manama Singers will welcome singers from Dubai, Oman, Riyadh and Dhahran to make up a choir of over 80 singers. 

Joining the choir will be former English National Opera (ENO) soprano soloist Kerry Boyle. Tenor Clifford Lister who had debuted with the Manama Singers in 2006 will also accompany the choir singing the solo tenor roles.

The event will also feature a children’s choir, Alexander Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor and a full orchestra conducted by Alistair Auld.

The French-Speaking Association of Bahrain (AFBH) hosts a Saint Tropez party at the Coral Beach Club on June 19. The party will feature a range of activities including French music, dancing dinner, volley ball, pétanque, trial dive and more. The event begins at 6pm. For details contact 39596231.
