First of all, allow me to congratulate every student who has survived yet another academic year! It feels funny that it was exactly a year ago I was sitting on my laptop and writing to Gulf Weekly about my late mother's story.
It feels like it was yesterday, it really is weird how time flies.
Speaking about how time flies, the summer is just around the corner and I'm sure a lot of people feel that this is one time that appears to drag and never end.
The reason many feel this way is because they end up wasting their summer doing NOTHING of value.
Excuses include: "no one is prepared to give me a summer job" or "I feel too tired to go to a sports club".
These excuses are lame. There are a number of businesses and companies willing to offer summer jobs to youngsters in Bahrain - it is just a matter of looking for them.
Even if you could not find a job over the summer, still it is not an excuse to sit all summer long just watching the latest and oldest movies on your sofa.
The solution is to find something that you love and have some sort of passion about. Take me, for example.
I am really interested in getting a job over the summer so that I can buy my dream SLR camera when school starts. In case I do not find one; I plan to concentrate on photography and put my skills to the test.
Therefore, please take this week's column into consideration and find something to do over the summer. Let us show the grown-ups that our generation is not lazy, knows the value of hard work and has what it takes to succeed.
