Consistently ranked as one of the best national universities in the United States, Carnegie Mellon University was founded in 1900 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In 2004, Carnegie Mellon was invited by the Qatar Foundation to open a campus in Doha.

Three full-time Bachelors degree programmes are offered: business administration, information systems, and computer science.

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is located in Education City, along with five other world class universities.

All classes are conducted in English and the Qatar Campus is fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, an American accrediting agency based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Carnegie Mellon has been accredited by Middle States since 1921.

The tuition charges, the faculty, the curriculum, and, most importantly, the degree offered on the Qatar Campus are identical to those offered on the Pittsburgh Campus. Admission to Carnegie Mellon is selective and competitive. Applications are reviewed individually, and no single grade or test score determines whether a student is admitted.

Rather, a holistic evaluation of the student's secondary school record, standardised test scores, teacher recommendation letters, personal essay, and interview all are taken into consideration.

The deadline for Fall 2009 enrollment will be March 1, 2009.
