From gigantic earth-movers that can re-profile the landscape, to super-powerful mining tools that batter rock faces deep underground, Matt ensures that we get unprecedented, close-up access to these man-made monsters and discover exactly how they work.
By profiling the inner workings of some of the massive human-made wonders that keep our world moving, Matt demonstrates how we live in a world where things that once existed only in science fiction have now come to life in mammoth proportion.
Big machines, giant telescopes, massive structures and other really big things that are changing the way we live are just some of the stars of the show. They can move, but it's not their speed that makes them amazing, it's their sheer power and capacity for hard work that turns these magnificent machines into mesmerising TV.
Matt's biography
Matt Rogers, inset, the host of Discovery Channel's show Really Big Things 2, has had some pretty big moments of his own, like winning the 2001 Rose Bowl and becoming one of the top 10 finalists on Season 3 of American Idol.
A former business communications major at the University of Washington and mortgage broker, Rogers says that he's learned more on Really Big Things than he ever did in any class. He is looking forward to seeing even more big things, like the pyramids in Egypt.
Before hosting Really Big Things, Rogers was a co-host for American Idol Extra and worked as a correspondent on several sports and entertainment shows, including Turner Sports College Football, Best Damn Sports Show, Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight. He's also worked in theatre and radio.
In his spare time, Rogers, who resides in Rancho Cucamonga, California, enjoys playing poker, fishing with his dad, and shopping with his wife Teri and eight-month-old son Brayden. One of his goals is to make the 2007 World Series of Poker Championship.
The first episode, this Tuesday at 6pm is entitled Cirque Du Soleil.
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL BIG TOP - Rogers joins the circus when he helps Cirque Du Soleil to set up a really big part of the show, the Big Top Circus tent.
It's a race against time to see if Matt and the crew can get this giant tent up in time for the show to go on!
Whitewater Centre -_Rogers takes on Mother Un-nature as he fights his way through man-made rapids at America's biggest playground, the US National Whitewater Centre. Matt helps to redesign a course for Olympic hopefuls train on before getting schooled in the art of Kayaking.
Hovercraft - Rogers meets up with the Navy to help them load 13 Hummers onto a really big hovercraft called a Landing Craft Air Cushion, LCAC. After helping to attach a skirt to the LCAC and directing traffic, Matt gets to take a ride on the open sees with the Navy.
WORLD'S TALLEST BUILDING - The series will turn to Dubai on July 22 at 6pm, taking a look at Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building: in an episode called Ski Dubai. Rogers gains unprecedented access to Burj Dubai, soon to be the world's tallest and most elite building. He is privy to a behind the scenes view of what will be the ultra-chic Armani hotel and is the first person to "swim" in the pool. Towering over the rest of Dubai at 138 stories, Rogers literally has a birds-eye view of what is known as the City of Cranes.
